Problem
A very tricky image: long hair on nearly all the edges some of which are backlit and contrast with the immediate foreground; and a varying background of contrasting colors.

I started by working on a slightly sharpened original and viewing in the blue channel for higher contrast, then using very small brushes to flow the keep mask into hair clumps, I got a result that I'm happy with...
